Landscape Water Conservation Tips

Use mulch to retain moisture in the soil.
Plant native and drought-tolerant grasses, ground covers, shrubs and trees.
Group plants together based on similar water needs.
Lawns only need about 3/4" to 1" water per week or once every two weeks during cooler weather.
Watering your lawn only when needed promotes deep rooting and a healthier lawn with a greater tolerance for drought.
Over-watering of your lawn can be harmful to your lawn. It creates shallow roots, making your lawn more vulnerable to disease and pests, as well as drought.
Use drip or micro-jet irrigation systems to save water. These systems deliver water to the root of the plant losing less water to the atmosphere.
